Welcome to the website of the biennial music festival From Village to Coast.
Expectations were high again: the twelfth edition of the music festival From Village to Coast was scheduled for Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2025. Although the weather conditions were somewhat less favorable than before, thousands of people enjoyed the eighteen participating choirs.
They sang alternately on seven stages along the old shell fishers' route: at locations along the Zeeweg between the Schulpersplein in Bakkum and the beach plateau Castricum aan Zee.
The choirs mostly come from North Holland; a smaller number from other provinces.
The eighteen choirs have a combined membership of approximately 700. They come to Castricum with their own entourage. Choirs that come from farther than cycling distance are transported by bus from one stage to the next.
The event is well-known throughout the North Kennemerland region and also among enthusiasts beyond.
The festival was opened at the Schulpersplein in Bakkum at 11:45 by Mayor Ben Tap and a performance by De Skulpers. At 17:00 it was closed with a performance by El Guappa's and a large Sing Along with the present members of all choirs; with a massive rendition of Het Land van Maas en Waal, Country Roads, and a song specially written for the occasion to the melody of De Engelbewaarder.
The festival was made possible through the efforts of more than 100 volunteers, contributions from 56 sponsors, and the Municipality of Castricum. We would like to thank everyone for their contribution.
